Awards - Lieutenant Vincent Pryce Named Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Coach
of the Year!
Lieutenant Vince Pryce a day-shift watch commander
for the Melbourne Police, working from 6 am to 6 pm overseeing more
than 20 officer finds time to volunteer as a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA coach
has been named Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Coach of the Year! He is one of 32
coaches from a group of nearly 75,000 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA coaches
nationwide, according to a letter notifying him of the honor signed
by Boston Celtics Head Coach Head Coach Doc Rivers and Minnesota
Lynx head coach Suzir McConnell Serio.
Lt. Pryce is more than deserving of this award due to his tireless
efforts for the youth of the Greater Melbourne area. Not only does
he take the time to coach a winning basketball team for the
Melbourne PAL program, but he also takes the time to pick kids up
for practice, three times a wee and then take them home just so they
will be able to participate. In addition, Lt. Pryce drives the
Melbourne PAL bus to and from competitions basketball shoes for
youth that need them to be able to play. And that is not all! Not
only does Lt. Pryce coach, he is also a referee. He has taken the
time to learn how to referee basketball games and is often found
officiating games for PAL. Lt. Pryce will spend his entire Saturday,
8 am - 8 pm, coaching his own team and then staying to help
officiate the other games. It is no secret that Lt. Pryce is
dedicated to the youth of Melbourne. He has proven that he is
willing to go above and beyond the call of being a youth basketball
coach.
