Melbourne PAL at Carver Park Children Benefits from Donations by
Ascension Catholic Thrift Shop
On Thursday July 3rd 2008 a truck
arrived at the newly refurbished Melbourne PAL at Carver Park
facility filled with new bicycles. The bicycles were donated
by the
Ascension Catholic Thrift Shop to the children attending the
Summer Program operated by Melbourne PAL at Carver Park.

The Ascension Catholic Thrift Shop
is operated by the
Ascension Catholic Church and is located at
1208 Auroa Road in Melbourne Florida. They may be reached
at (321) 259-7291. Ascension Catholic Church operates a
program called
"Social Concerns."
Social Concerns was originally formed in 1985 to help the needy with
food or financial assistance. Due to the generosity of various
individuals and church ministries, they have also able to reach out
and help many of our poor and needy neighbors in the Melbourne area.
The Food Pantry is located on Aurora Road next to the Ascension
Thrift Store. With considerable aid from the Thrift Store and
private donations, Ascension has been able to provide food, clothing
and other assistance to disabled, poor needy families and
individuals. Your donations of food, time, money, or items to the
Ascension Thrift Store today could have a profound effect on
someone's life tomorrow.

Melbourne PAL is a charter member of the National Association of
Police Athletic Leagues, recognized as the largest juvenile crime
prevention program in the nation. The Greater Melbourne Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) is a
registered non-profit 501(c) organization dedicated to providing
educational and athletic activities for youth.
PAL is a youth
crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic and
recreational activities to create trust and understanding between
police officers and youth. It is based on the conviction that
young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong
positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through
life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship.
