Joseph Elegele Friday night (2 July 2010) Defeats Willie Walton

Elegele Remains Perfect

Melbourne boxer Joseph Elegele ran his professional record to 9-0 on Friday night (2 July 2010), stopping Salt Lake Cirty's Willie Walton in the third round at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

Elegele, fighting at 143 pounds, was rocked early by Walton, a heavy puncher, but rallied to knock Walton down in the second. He then rocked Walton enough in the third round that the referee stopped the proceedings at the 1 minute, 37 second mark.

Seven of Elegele's victories have come either by knockout or technical knockout, including the last four.

The fight was televised as part of ESPN 2's "Friday Night Fights" presentation.

Elegele's next scheduled fight is July 31 at the Sovereign Bank Baseball Stadium, York, Penn. An opponent has not yet been named.
