Brevard PALs Volunteer at Easter Seals' Camp Challenge
The weekend of May 17th 2008 youth
from the Police Athletic Leagues from Melbourne PAL, Palm Bay PAL,
West Melbourne PAL, and Satellite Beach PAL came together to
volunteer at Camp Challenge. Camp Challenge is a facility
owned and operated by Easter Seals, Florida, Inc. whose program
planning is centered on the needs of the individual with a
disability. The 63 acre camp site is centrally located
in the State of Florida between Mt. Dora and Sanford.
The Brevard PALs came together on
the weekend of the 17th of May to volunteer at Camp Challenge to
prepare the facility for summer campers. Their duties
consisted of cleaning and painting the facilities' structures.
It was reported by Leslee Brimer, Director, Palm Bay PAL, Vice
President, State of Florida PAL, "...this past weekend was
absolutely wonderful! The kids got so much out of it and truly
enjoyed everything. We worked them very hard but do you know, they
never complained? It was fun for them and they are ready to
return."
