PAL Staff
Hello All: I am a 24 year veteran of the Melbourne Florida
Police Department and I am a native born Melbourne, Floridian.
I served five years in the United States Army and graduated from
Melbourne High. I love my community and especially the youth
of the Greater Melbourne Police Athletic League. Melbourne PAL
was established by Officer Joe Davis (retired), and I had the honor
of becoming one of the first PAL kids when I was 11 years old.
I have been working with youth for about 18 years as a School
Resource Officer (SRO), DARE, GREAT, and a Life Skills Instructor
within the Brevard County education system. I have also served
in the capacity of Truant Officer, focusing on the entire Brevard
County geographic area. My expertise is in working with our
youth, and I really enjoy this aspect of my job.
“Because of caring police officers, I was spared a possible life
of crime. As such, I know that Police Athletic Leagues
work--it worked for me. For me, giving back to the community
is imperative. By doing so, you could actually save a child
from a life of crime, or worse, death.”
Marthenia Jones, was born and raised in Melbourne, Florida. She was
a PAL kid 30 years ago. Marthenia had the opportunity to play on the
PAL softball team with the Executive Director of PAL (Delores
Pryce). As of August 2007 she has accepted the position for PAL as
the Administrative Assistant. Before coming back to PAL she has
coached girl’s volleyball, basketball and softball for 9 years. I
enjoy working with kids and I’m grateful to be a part of the PAL
program.
